Dantejeva jama

Zadlaška or Dante's Cave is located in the area of famous Tolmin Gorge. It is one of many caves through which waters of the Soča glacier flowed. The cave system is 1140 m long, 41 m deep and in the cave are three halls as well, boasting with many stalactites and stalagmites. The famous Italian poet Dante Alighieri, who visited the patriarch Pagano del Torre at the castle on Kozlov rob, supposedly got his inspiration for his depiction of Hell (Inferno) in the Divine Comedy in this cave. For visiting you will need the attendance of the caving guide.
