Natural sights in the Soča Valley
Visitors to the Soča Valley will certainly be first enchanted by the emerald river Soča, which invites you to the arms of magnificent alpine peaks from near and far.
The valley of natural sights does not hide the fact that while driving on the main road between Tolmin and Bovec, you can admire the picturesque natural ambience from your vehicle, which is complemented by individual natural attractions. Even better attractions will of course be discovered by those who stop along the way and explore the surroundings of the Soča places - quite a few breathtaking corners are a bit remote and hidden, which is why they are even more exciting for visitors! There is no shortage of natural attractions along the Soča river. The waterfalls certainly deserve mention, for example, the Boka waterfall, which you can admire on the way to Bovec, and the Kozjak waterfall near Kobarid. Tolminka is no less impressive with its troughs, and lovers of splashing on the water are invited by the warmer river Nadiža. Along with these beauties, it is worth mentioning the botanical garden, caves, and gorges, of course also the alpine peaks and high mountain lakes - all this and more can be found on the list of natural attractions of the Soča Valley!
The offer of cultural and historical sights in these interesting places is no less varied. The legacy of the memories of the First World War is very rich, as the battles on the Soča front raged in the vicinity of the Soča region, as evidenced by the trenches, caverns, and other remains from the front. The collection of the Kobarid Museum is extremely appreciated, which is a must-see for every visitor interested in history. But other historical and cultural attractions are also very inviting, from the half-millennium-old Kluža fortress to the birth house of the poet Simon Gregorčič. Ethnological museums, which represent local customs and the pulse of life, can also add special content to your visit. Some sights you can’t miss, others will need to be looked for a little more carefully as they may not be as well known or easily accessible. On the list of sights, we present practically all the attractions of the Soča Valley, so you can decide for yourself which ones to stop at.
